Help Us Keep the Stage Lights On

Due to COVID-19, the Historic Iao Theater has been forced to cancel all future shows until further notice. Unfortunately, this has caused great stress to the financial survival of the theater. In an effort to help during these trying times the Maui Community is stepping forward to ensure the theater’s success and future. Please make a donation of whatever you can to help protect her future and the future of Community Arts and Entertainment on Maui.

The History of Iao Theater

What began in 1930 (Maui Community Theater) as a handful of volunteers with deep visionary roots has become an important cornerstone of the cultural landscape of Maui. Iao Theater has the distinction of being one of the longest consistently running theater companies in the United States. Over the past 85 years, it has evolved into a flourishing community resource. During the recent decade, Iao Theater has developed into a significant partner in the renaissance of Wailuku town.

  • 5 Stars!

I’ve seen a few plays here and they have been phenomenal! It’s so refreshing to have some amazing local theater here on the island. I highly recommend grabbing a ticket and going out to any play they have!

  • “Amazing”

This theater has a rustic feeling, when you walk through the doors you think its the 1920’s. They’ve done a wonderful job preserving the historical architecture. And the productions are always amazing.
